FARMINGTON – Bangor Savings Bank and Blueberry Broadcasting joined Friday to raise money for emergency heating assistance. The money will be distributed by Community Action agencies throughout the state.

WTOS’ “Mountain Morning Show” hosts Tom O. and Mr. Mike transmitted from the Mt. Blue Shopping Center branch Friday while greeting donors and signing cups.

Five remote radio broadcasts were held throughout the state. All 51 branches of Bangor Savings are collecting money, which locally will be distributed through Western Maine Community Action, said Sandra Goodwin, area sales manager for the bank.

Bangor Savings will donate $2 for every $1 collected (up to $25,000) and will donate another $25,000 through their Chase Away the Chill debit sweepstakes, a potential $50,000 donation for heating assistance programs.

Bangor Savings branches will continue to accept donations; call 1-800-215-4942 or visit www.penquis.org for more information. Donors may designate which area of the state they would like their donation to go, Goodwin said.
