AUBURN – Cam Angell led five Mustangs in double figures with a team high 23 points, and Tyler Smithgall and Matt Sceviour each registered a double-double as Central Maine Community College opened the second half of their season with a 96-74 Yankee Conference win over the Maine-Augusta on Monday.
Trailing throughout the first half, the Mustangs (11-3) took the lead just before the break and never looked back, outscoring the Moose 62-42 in the second half.
Smithgall canned 18 points and hauled down 10 boards while Sceviour poured in 14 points to compliment his 11 assists. Nate Damm hit for 14 points and Farrell Jean-Gilles came off the bench for 18. The Mustangs improve to 8-1 in conference play.
Lawrence Williams paced the Moose (3-12) with a game-high 25 points while Moses Brathwaite added 20.
Women’s basketball
Central Maine CC 65, Maine-Augusta 62
AUBURN – Michelle Holmquist tallied a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead Central Maine Community College to a 65-62 win over Maine-Augusta.
After falling behind by four at the break, the Mustangs (12-3) muscled the ball inside to Holmquist, who scored 20 points in the final frame. Tiffany Seams hit three from behind the arc and finished with 17 points, while Sara Martin and Kayla Ellis added six points apiece. Katie Martin and Kerri Harris combined for four assists.
Jennifer Lola led the Moose (8-11) with a game-high 31 points. Danielle White added nine.
