LEWISTON – The 16th annual Thomas E. Lahey Bowlfest is scheduled for Saturday at Spare-Time Recreation, This year’s event already features 170 bowlers who are signed up to compete.

Format will consist of three strings, and the top eight teams will advance to a single-string rolloff. Team winners will be determined in both handicap and scratch divisions. Individual awards will be presented in various categories.

The Lahey Foundation’s namesake passed away in 1987. The foundation provides financial assistance to graduates of Lewiston, Edward Little amd St. Dominic Regional high schools. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded scholarship funds totaling more than $150,000 to area students. Non-bowling friends are welcome as spectators. Regisration is at 11:30 a.m., with the tournament starting at noon.

Snowboarding lessons at Black Mountain

RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine has teamed up with the UMF Ski Industries program to offer 90-minute snowboard lessons for riders of all ages. This program begins Friday, Feb. 6 and continues on Feb. 13, March 6, 13 and 20th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $25 per session not including lift ticket.
