LIVERMORE FALLS – Michael Rowland, MD, MPH, will join the medical staff of Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice and Franklin Memorial Hospital in April.

Rowland will serve as the lead physician in the medical practice and provide leadership in the strategic and facility planning, recruitment, and other coordinating activities to strengthen Livermore Falls Family Practice and Franklin Memorial Hospital outpatient services in Livermore Falls. With the arrival of Dr. Rowland, vasectomy services will also be offered.

He is the medical director of the Maine Migrant Health Program, as well as medical director of Swift River Occupational Health in Rumford. For his work with farm workers, he was awarded the Advocacy Fellowship at Columbia University from 2006-2008, a national award given to four doctors each year and funded by the Soros Foundation.

He did his undergraduate work at Yale College, then received his medical degree from Tufts University and postgraduate training at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency. He later received a master’s degree in public health from Harvard School of Public Health. He is board-certified in family medicine and occupational medicine. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has funded his research in agricultural medicine and he is a frequent presenter at national medical conferences.

Rowland moved to this area in 1992 to serve as medical director in the Emergency Department at FMH, where he worked until 2001. He is married to Dr. Connie Adler.

Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice is located at 38 Union St., Livermore Falls. The practice is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 897-6601.
