A largely attended meeting of the sweet corn growers of Turner was held at the town hall at Turner Center on Wednesday to consider the matter of the price they have been receiving and to plan a line of action. The expression was unanimous that the past price of thirteen dollars per ton was not in proportion to the cost of feeds, wages and other expenses necessary to profitably produce the crop. It was generally maintained that potatoes, yellow corn, oats and hay could be raised at a better profit, all considered. The meeting adjourned to meet Feb. 6th at 1 o’clock p.m. at the Grange hall for final action. A full attendance is desirable.

A problem of a need for additional space at the Lewiston Public Library in another five or six years was posed last night by library trustees meeting with the Lewiston Planning Board.

The library was built in 1901 under a Carnegie grant. Trustee Chairman Faunce Pendexter suggested having an appraisal group of experienced librarians and an architect determine the best method of expansion.

He said there were several possibilities. These included an addition to one side of the structure, building a third floor over the second level of the book stacks, or constructing a children’s room in the basement.
