NORWAY – The second annual “Fill-in-the-blank” show, which focuses on the featured artists’ works in progress, will open at the Commons Art Collective Friday, Feb. 6. It all begins with a blank canvas. Then throughout the month of February, artists will transform the gallery at the Fare Share Commons into an open studio.

They will claim their spots between 5 and 7 p.m. Feb. 6 and begin working on their pieces, which will include poetry, painting, mixed media, encaustics, photography and sculpture.

Harrison poet Lisa Moore will write three poems during the month. Judy Schneider, an acrylic painter, will take this time and space to broaden the take on her surroundings with color and line. Mary Brooking, an expressionist landscape artist, recently returned from a weeklong painting retreat on Monhegan Island. She will continue her exploration of the island’s subtle colors in deep winter.

Other contributing artists are Anne Bernard, Katey Branch, Lee Margolin, Joanna Reese, Om Devi Reynolds, Cyndy Tinsley and Debra Wentworth.

There will be the usual opening party from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6, and then from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, there will be another scheduled open studio. Final touches to artwork will be made between 5 and 7 p.m. on March 6, in preparation for the March show called “Fulfillment,” which opens that night.

People are urged to visit the gallery at 445 Main St. throughout the month to view the works in progress.
