RANGELEY – Rangeley built a nine-point lead in the first quarter and hung on for a 40-35 upset victory over Valley in a EWC girls’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Valley was ranked No. 2 in the latest Heal points, while Rangeley was ranked fifth.
Angela White led the Lakers (11-6) with a game-high 23 points, nine rebounds and two steals, while Hayley White pulled down 11 rebounds.
Jocelyn Lawyerson paced Valley (14-3) with a 13-point performance, while Cindy Schultz added 12.
Buckfield 54, Richmond 33
BUCKFIELD – Buckfield erupted for 24 points in the second quarter and went on to post a 54-33 victory over Richmond in another EWC girls’ game Tuesday.
Abby Jones led the Bucks with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Lindsay Henderson added nine.
Richmond was paced by Megan Deraps with an 11-point performance. Buckfield held a nine point advantage after the first quarter before the 24-7 run put the game out of reach for Richmond.
Winslow 42, Oak Hill 29
WALES – Megan Pelletier drained 11 points and Lindsey Gordon added eight to lead Winslow in a 42-29 KVAC victory over Oak Hill on Tuesday.
The Black Raiders (14-3) led 10-4 after the first quarter and never looked back. The Raiders trimmed the deficit to four in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hang on.
Alex Donald canned a game-high 13 points for the Raiders (9-8), including a 3-pointer, while Maggie Sabine added 10 points.
Mt. Blue 42, Bangor 35
FARMINGTON – Going into the fourth quarter tied at 28-28, Mt. Blue used a 14-7 run in the fourth to record a 42-35 victory over Bangor for its first girls’ basketball victory of the season.
Chelsea Thompson led the Cougars (1-16) with 15 points, while Johanna Laplante and Kristen Trask each added seven.
Kate Treadwell paced Bangor (6-11) with 10 points, while Hillary Sinsk added seven.
Greely 42, Gray-NG 34
GRAY – Greely overcame a two-point halftime deficit to post a 42-34 victory over Gray-New Gloucester.
The Rangers (15-2) outscored the hosts 27-17 in the second half.
Danielle Slocum and Nicole Saietta led Greely with 12 and 10 points apiece. Terri Lynn Sanborn scored a game-high 18 points for Gray-New Gloucester (10-7).
St. Dom’s 51, OOB 33
OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Allaina Murphy drained a game-high 30 points Tuesday as St. Dom’s roled to a 51-33 victory over Old Orchard.
The Saints jumped out to a 15-6 advantage in the first quarter and were never challenged. Mary Lewis chipped in with nine points, while Sarah Gosselin added five.
Old Orchard was paced by Annabelle Frenette with eight points, including two from outside the arc.
