RANGELEY – Angela White sparked a 12-4 run in the third quarter as Rangeley pulled away for a 38-24 victory over Hyde in girls’ basketball action Thursday.
White led the Lakers (12-6) in their regular-season finale with 20 points, six of which came in the third frame. Hayley White chipped in with six points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Allie Hammond also contributed with six points and six rebounds. Sam Olivieri played well on defense, holding Hyde’s Stephanie Urzua to a less-than-average seven points.
Britney Harris and Keionna Besley chipped in for Hyde (7-6) with six points each.
Jay 58, Telstar 35
BETHEL – Senior forwards Liz LeBlanc and Hillary Deane drained 14 points each as Jay roared to a 58-35 victory over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
The win secures the Tigers’ place in Monday’s MVC championship game with Mountain Valley at 8 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
The Tigers (15-3) dominated the middle two quarters, outscoring Telstar 34-15 in the two frames. Beth Moore contributed 13 points for Jay.
Sophomore guard Kayla Merrill tallied a team-high 14 points for Telstar in the losing effort.
Gray-New Gloucester 62, NYA 22
GRAY – Senior guard Rachel Clement poured in 18 points as Gray-New Gloucester jettisoned North Yarmouth Academy 62-22 in WMC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
The Patriots (11-7) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and wrapped up the first quarter at 15-5. Sophomore forward Alicia Valente chipped in with 10 points for Gray-New Gloucester.
The Panthers (6-12) picked up the pace in the second quarter with 12 points, but fell into the single digits in each frame of the second half. Blair Haggett recorded eight points for North Yarmouth.
Skowhegan 66, Mt. Blue 30
FARMINGTON – Kaley Brown tossed an impressive 20 points as Skowhegan squelched Mt. Blue 66-30 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
The Cougars (1-17) kept pace in the first quarter with a 9-8 run. Jenna Peterson posted a team-high eight points for Mt. Blue.
The Indians (15-3) began their rampage in the second quarter with a 17-9 effort, and tore up the floor with 20-6 and 21-6 frames in the second half. Liz Naddin contributed 10 points for Skowhegan.
Oxford Hills 53, Leavitt 51 (2OT)
SOUTH PARIS – Oxford Hills scored the only points in the second overtime for a 53-51 victory over Leavitt in the KVAC regular-season finale.
The two squads each scored four points in the first overtime to force the extended play. No further information was available.
Mindy Rugg led the Vikings (11-5) with 15 points, while Brett finished with 14.
The Hornets (9-9) saw three players in double figures, led by Cortney Anderson with 14 points and eight rebounds. Abbey Randall and Adrianna Newton also contributed with 13 points each.
Hebron 48, Kents Hill 30
KENTS HILL – Meghan Munro scored 18 points to lead Hebron to a season-ending 48-30 victory over Kents Hill.
Malorie Johnson added 11 p[oints and Emily Powers chipped in with 10. Natalie Tortorella led Kents Hill with 12 points.
