TURNER – State police are investigating a burglary at Schrepp’s Corner Store on Upper Street, and investigators say there are similarities to other recent break-ins.

The latest burglary occurred during the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday. Police say an automatic teller machine inside Schrepp’s was broken into and cash was taken. Also taken from the store was a large quantity of cigarettes and beer.

In mid-January, a similar burglary occurred at the IGA on Route 202 in Greene. In that heist, one or more burglars who broke into the market and stole cigarettes and cash from an ATM.

It was not disclosed how much money was taken in either burglary.

Police are exploring possible links to those burglaries and others committed recently in Waterville, Lewiston and Biddeford.

Businesses in several areas have been targeted recently by burglars who struck in the overnight hours. In Lewiston, thieves disabled an alarm while breaking into Marden’s on Main Street.

In Waterville, Flagship Cinema on Kennedy Memorial Drive was broken into at the start of January. Police said money was taken from the business.

The break-ins remain under investigation. Anyone with information about the burglary at Schrepp’s is asked to call Maine State Police Trooper Michael Chavez at 207-657-3030.
