PORTLAND – Due to overwhelming demand, a second show has been added to Ray LaMontagne’s North American tour stop at Merrill Auditorium this spring.

The tour is LaMontagne’s second in support of his latest album, “Gossip In The Grain,” which achieved the Maine singer-songwriter’s highest chart number, debuting at No. 3 on Billboard Charts its week of release. The album, which features folk, railroad blues, front porch country and ballads, was a huge digital sensation as the top-selling album on iTunes that first week.

The second show, at 7:30 p.m., has been added for Friday, April 10. Tickets are $35.50 and $29.50; reserved seating, all ages. Tickets are now available at the PortTix Box office at Merrill Auditorium, by calling (207) 842-0800 and online at www.livenation.com and www.porttix.com.

Ticket sales for the singer/songwriter’s April 11 show, which went on sale Friday at noon, set a record at PortTix for the second fastest sell-out in box-office history (next the Jerry Seinfeld ‘s show in 2003). LaMontagne’s show sold out within two hours.

Opening will be The Low Anthem.
