GORHAM – Senior defenseman Richard Paradis notched a natural hat trick and C.J. Bergeron lit the lamp in overtime to fill St. Dom’s sails with a 4-3 victory over Scarborough in boys’ ice hockey.
The Red Storm (8-6) deliberatively posted three second period goals for a 3-0 lead going into the final period.
Paradis responded for the Saints (10-5) with three unanswered third period goals to send the contest into overtime. Sophomore forward Alex Parker, who had an assist on one of Paradis’ goals, picked up a loose puck in front of the net in overtime and scooted it over to Bergeron for the game-winner.
Skowhegan 5, EL 4, OT
AUBURN – Senior forward Nate Powers marshalled the puck right out of the face off and came down the line to score the game-winner 12 seconds into the overtime frame as Skowhegan grabbed a 5-4 decision from Edward Little in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday.
Trevor Bengras was a playmaker for the Indians (4-8-2) with three assists to his credit.
Junior forward Austin Polisky had a goal and an assist for the Red Eddies (2-13).
Goalie Alan Nelson made 36 saves in net for Edward Little, while Jimmy Quirion repelled 28 shots to notch the win in net for Skowhegan.
Poland/Gray-NG 5, Massabesic/OOB 0
HEBRON – Senior defenseman Chris Lessard netted a goal and two assists to lead Poland/Gray-New Gloucester to a 5-0 blanking over Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday.
The Patriotic-Knights (12-3) bounced out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and continued with the momemtum in the second with another pair.
Goalie Sean Bilodeau only needed to fend off two shots to earn the win in net for Poland/Gray-New Gloucester, while Kyle McLay deflected 22 shots and Zack Salo defended seven in the losing effort for Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach (1-11-1).
