AUBURN – The popular folk duo Schooner Fare will perform Saturday, Feb. 28, at Great Falls Performing Arts Center. The performance will benefit the Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Maine.

Schooner Fare began performing in 1975, with members Chuck and Steve Romanoff and Tom Rowe. Since Rowe’s death in January 2004, the Romanoffs have continued to perform original songs with both contemporary and traditional themes, country ballads and maritime pieces – which made Schooner Fare synonymous with “Down East” style.

Schooner Fare’s distinctive vocal and instrumental arrangements have been hailed by such folk music icons as the Kingston Trio, the Limeliters, the Chad Mitchell Trio, the Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem and Tom Paxton.

Schooner Fare’s many recordings receive radio play on four continents and worldwide on satellite radio. The original songs of Chuck and Steve Romanoff continue to be recorded and performed by other artists in the United States, Canada, Britain, Ireland and Australia.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students. To reserve tickets, call 783-0958 or log on to tickets.laclt.com. The Great Falls Performing Arts Center is at 30 Academy St.
