FARMINGTON – For the third time in a month, 19-year-old Ronal Cabe of Strong is facing marijuana charges after he was found in a car parked behind an ice cream stand on Front Street.

Maine State Police Trooper Mathew Casavant said in an affidavit that he observed Cabe behind Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream on Monday and knew he was on bail for previous drug charges. He searched him and the vehicle and found a small bag of marijuana on him, a bag of marijuana in the glove box and about an ounce of marijuana in a Lipton Ice Tea two-liter bottle designed to conceal drugs, he wrote.

Cabe was prohibited from possessing drugs as a condition of his bail, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor Gerry Baril said Tuesday. About 40 grams of marijuana were found, he said.

Cabe pleaded not guilty in Farmington District Court on Tuesday to unlawful furnishing of marijuana and violation of condition of release.

He also pleaded not guilty to marijuana cultivation and trafficking in marijuana stemming from a search of his residence Jan. 21.

Cabe was arrested Jan. 27 after his vehicle struck another on Main Street in Farmington and police found about a quarter-pound of marijuana prepackaged for sale in his vehicle, Baril said at the time. He was released from jail on $500 cash.

Justice Michaela Murphy set bail at $1,500 cash on the violation of release conditions and concurrent with other charges, and conditions of no possession or use of illegal drugs and random search and testing.
