AUBURN – Sharon Millett of Coldwell Banker Millett Realty in Auburn was recently reappointed to the Maine Real Estate Commission by Gov. John Baldacci.

Millett has served for almost 20 years, having been previously appointed by Govs. McKernan and King. The commission is made up of five members who are charged with protecting the interests of Maine’s real estate consumers, as well as the licensing and oversight of Maine’s real estate brokerage agencies and agents.

At the MREC’s January meeting, Millett was elected to serve again as chairwoman of the board. The board serves as an adjudicatory panel that conducts hearings when complaints are filed against real estate licensees to determine whether a violation has occurred and, if so, determine the appropriate sanctions. The commission also promulgates rules to help further define the implementation of Maine’s real estate licensing laws.

Millett is a past president of the National Association of Realtors and also is the past co-president of the International Consortium of Real Estate Associations. Millett serves as chairwoman of the board of St. Mary’s Health System and St. Mary’s Hospital, and is a member of the board of directors of Auburn Savings Bank. She lives in Poland Spring with her husband.
