SCARBOROUGH – Jean Louis Poulin, 82, formerly of 678 College St., Lewiston, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

He was born at Notre Dames des Pins, Quebec, Oct. 2, 1926, the son of the late Napoleon and Alexandrine Begin Poulin. He was married to Lucille Jacques on Sept. 1, 1956, in Beauceville, Quebec, and they were married for 35 years until Lucille’s passing on Dec. 10, 1991.

He was a carpenter by trade and prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Jean L. Poulin Contracting Co. in Lewiston for many years. He built numerous homes in Lewiston, working with his wife Lucille, brothers Andrea and Fabien, brothers-in-law, Jean Luc and Laurent. Over the years, he worked alongside his many nephews carrying on the family trade.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and enjoyed his music, card playing and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a daughter, Julie Poulin-Handy and husband, Ray, of Scarborough; a granddaughter, Elise Handy of Scarborough; a sister, Evelyn Dupuis and husband, Laurent, of Lewiston; a brother, Andrea Poulin and wife, Marie Marthe, of Turner; and a sister-in-law, Marie Jeanne Veilleux of Saco.

He was predeceased by four sisters, Juliette Dutil, Alice Gilbert, Agathe Gilbert and Louise Anna Routhier; and two brothers, Eugene and Fabien Poulin and his companion, Carmen Ouellette.
