DURHAM – Police are seeking help from the public in connection with a two-vehicle crash on Route 136 shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday in which one driver was charged with operating under the influence.

According to the investigating officer, Androscoggin County Sgt. Rielly Bryant, both drivers say the other strayed over the center line.

Bryant identified the drivers as Roy Bastarache, 41, of Durham and Walid Kabsoun, 20, of Lewiston.

Bastarache was driving north and Kabsoun was headed south when they collided at 9:11 p.m. in the area of the Durham Get ‘n’ Go, Bryant said. Bastarache complained of back pain and was taken by Durham Fire and Rescue to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was issued a summons for operating under the influence, Bryant said.

Damage to Kabsoun’s 1996 Nissan Maxima was estimated at $6,500; to Bastarache’s 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, $6,000.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt. Bryant at 784-7361, extension 220.
