In the Auburn Municipal Court yesterday morning Ludger Kokel was discharged of the charge of disorderly conduct without any defense being offered. From the testimony of the complainant, Mrs. Leocadie Elie of Mill Street, Kokel was to have been married to her sister, Miss Clara Elie, Jan. 10 but skipped out two days before the wedding bells were to have rung. He showed up the other night and wanted to see Miss Clara but wasn’t allowed and a warrant charging disorderly conduct was sworn out.

“Youth and Music” will be the theme of the Philharmonic Club musical program to be presented Friday evening, Feb 27, at the Lisbon Street studio.

The Teen Tones of Edward Little High School will be featured in numbers at the beginning and close of the entertainment. The vocal group is comprised of Judy Bodwell, Donna Brooker, Mary Goucher, Margaret Johnson, Marjorie Johnson, Pat Letourneau, Nancy Mitchell, Gloria Mottram and Nancy Torrey, all students at Edward Little High School.

25 years ago, 1984

The Lewiston School Committee will meet at McMahon School Monday to consider several new policies and programs, including penalties for athletes using drugs or alcohol.

The proposed penalties for drug users engaged in sports range from suspension for the athletic season to suspension for one game, according to School Superintendent Robert V. Connors.

The committee will also act on a proposed alcohol and drug abuse awareness program for high school seniors and a proposed employee health prevention program.
