BOSTON – Colby Cohen scored a power-play goal with less than three minutes to remaining to help Boston University recover for a 2-1 victory over Maine in Game 1 of the Hockey East quarterfinals on Friday.

The two teams meet again Saturday in the best-of-three format.

The Black Bears (12-21-4) opened a 1-0 lead when Tanner House scored on the power play with 23 seconds to play in the first period. Matt Duffy assisted on HOuse’s 10th goal of the year.

The Terriers (28-5-4) tied it midway through the second period when Kevin Shattenkirk beat Maine goalie Scott Darling on a play set up by Will O’Neill and Colin Wilson.

Darling finished with 23 saves on 25 shots, while BU’s Kieran Millan recorded 20 saves.
