FARMINGTON – Jeannette V. Roy, 89, of Jay, passed away Wednesday, March 25, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Chisholm, on March 5, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Laura (Guerin) Therrien. On April 25, 1943, she married Raoul G. Roy at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. They made their home at 23 Jewell St., Jay, for the last 62 years.

She was employed in various jobs throughout her life including Hay’s Diner in Lewiston and Bath Iron Works. While raising her children, she also worked in area woolen mills, the A & P grocery store, Ben’s Clothing, Grimaldi’s and even enjoyed apple picking in the fall.

Summers were spent with family and friends at Cozy Cove on Round Pond in Livermore. Many will remember the wonderful times she inspired at the Roy household; the barn dances, tennis court, sitting in front of the fireplace in the backyard, or playing croquet and badminton. All activities were designed to keep the young people in the neighborhood active with wholesome activities. She was always interested in everyone’s lives and her acts of kindness extended well beyond her family.

She is survived by her husband, Raoul of Jay; their four children, Rita and her husband, Michael Ditata, of Jay, Daniel Roy and his wife, Rose, of Poland, Randel Roy and his wife, Denise, of Glenburn, Sheila Roy and friend, James Lomac, of Cape Elizabeth and special daughter-in-law, Vicky Roy, of Poland; nine grandchildren, Angela Chretien, Nicole Ditata, Anthony (Tony), Andrew, Brittany Roy, Rebecca Cabellon, Kathleen Peschiera, Russell and Brandon Roy; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Therrien and his wife, Lou, of Livermore Falls; three sisters, Theodora Gallant of Canton, Yvette Maillott of Livermore and Claire Parker and her husband, Dick, also of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Leo, Reney, Ronald, Roland and Norman Therrien; a sister, Rita LaBrecque; a grandson, Justin; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella.

Her acts of kindness and her wonderful nature were rewarded by the individuals who cared for her during these last few years. A sincere thank-you to Dr. Heidi Decker and the special caregivers, Jocelyn Collins, Margaret Leblond, Penny Whitney, Paula St. Germaine, Calli Yankura, Bobbie Jo Farrington, Eleanor Newman, Judy Timberlake, Amanda Bartholemew, Barbara Smith, and Androscoggin Home Care nurses.
