TOPSHAM – Three Tidbits Fiddle and Farm Concerts will be held Sunday, April 5, May 3 and June 7, at HeartSpeak Studio, with free farm-fresh food served beforehand.

The concerts are a production of Free Grange (www.freegrange.org). Free Grange™ products and events are the brainchild of musician Hope Hoffman, who depends on and enjoys local farm foods and designed the project to support the success and popularity of fresh, neighborly food sources.

Hoffman’s CD and concerts feature her original dance tunes on fiddle and viola, inspired by often-humorous stories of friends’ and neighbors’ experiences with farm foods. Her imaginative and narrative approach to composing blends traditional Maine dance music with Scots-Irish, French and Scandinavian styles.

On April 5, the singing/fiddling Carter Family will perform bluegrass, a country duet and Appalachian folk heritage music; and Hoffman and Jim Tolles will play roots-based originals.

On May 3, Irish and Americana fiddle tunes and songs will be featured, with a modern approach and fluid, detailed interpretations by Hoffman with guitarist Jeff Trippe.

The June 7 concert will offer traditional and original Maine fiddle music (Scots-Irish, French-Canadian, English and Scandinavian) with Hoffman and guitarist Larry Burkett.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., with performances to run from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Tickets, $10 in advance for the series of three concerts, may be purchased online at www.freegrange.org. They are available at Red Dragon Toys, 97 Maine St.; or a check may be mailed to Hope Hoffman, P.O. Box 171, Bowdoinham, ME 04008.

HeartSpeak Studio is at 56 Elm St. For more information, call 332-3459 or e-mail Hoffman via www.freegrange.org.
