BRUNSWICK – The Theater Project’s Young People’s Theater will offer a new look at the familiar childhood tale of Robin Hood – introducing a modern script that tells the same story (mostly) but introduces many new characters.

Besides Robin Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham, Maid Marian and the usual band of Merry Men, there are also two new Merry Men: Long John and Sprigget. And, that’s just the beginning of what’s new.

The Theater Project’s production classes for junior-high students focus on teaching basic acting techniques through exercises and games, while rehearsing and performing a full production. “I’ve tried to keep it as open as possible, encouraging the kids to try out many ideas of their own and to be imaginative,” said director Molly Haley, herself a Theater Project alumnae.

“Robin Hood” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 3-4, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5. Tickets, a suggested $6, are available at 729-8584 and online at www.theaterproject.com. The Theater Project is at 14 School St.
