BANGOR (AP) – Bangor television station WABI has laid off seven employees, including a news anchor, saying they’ve become victims of the floundering economy.

Those who lost their jobs this week include anchorman Craig Colson and Coastal bureau reporter Susan Farley.

WABI Vice President and General Manager Mike Young said on Wednesday that the decision was prompted by what he described as the industry’s worst economic conditions in decades.

Young said four of the seven were veterans with more than 20 years at the station, and all departments were directly or indirectly affected. He said “it’s like saying goodbye to family.”
