PARIS – Teams are invited to hit the lanes for a good cause this weekend.

The annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake will take place between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday at Hobbs Lucky Lanes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs in the area.

Patricia Valeriani, communications director at the Child Health Center in Norway, said the event usually features teams of four that can bowl for free during a two-hour time slot. Team members must raise a minimum of $35 each, and any bowler who raises $100 or more may enter a drawing for a television.

All participants will receive a free T-shirt and door prizes will also be presented.

Valeriani said the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs include one based at SAD 17 that matches high school students with elementary school students. A recent federal grant has allowed for monthly theme events and the expansion of the program to run year-round.

The Child Health Center also has community mentoring programs and additional programs in the Bethel, Buckfield and Hebron areas.

“We really appreciate any help that anyone can give us,” Valeriani said.

Participants may still enter the event at the door. For more information, contact Patricia Brennan at 743-7035.
