AUBURN – Gertrude Mignonne Martel, 89, of Auburn, a former Lewiston resident, died Thursday, April 2, at Clover Health Care Facility with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 7, 1920, the daughter of the late Francois and Leda (Simoneau) Landry.

Prior to her retirement in 1985, she had worked as a dental assistant for both Dr. Roy and Dr. Lebel’s dental offices.

On Sept. 20, 1941, she married Conrad Martel, who died on Dec. 6, 1967.

She enjoyed ceramics and spending time with her friends in the Bambi Club.

Survivors include one son, Laurier Martel and wife, Judith, of Penobscot; one daughter, Doris Roberts and husband, Keith, of Lewiston; two sisters, Emilienne Roy of Lewiston and Georgette Poisson and husband, Robert, of Lewiston; one daughter-in-law, Carol Martel of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Landry of Lisbon and Pauline Landry of Florida; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one son, Richard Martel; seven brothers; and five sisters.
