AUBURN (AP) – A jury has awarded more than $87,000 to an employee who was fired from his job at a propane distribution company in Auburn after he complained about racially offensive conduct and language.

Jurors found that DCP Midstream had unlawfully dismissed Daniel Mayo, who was the only black employee at the company.

WCSH reported Tuesday that the jury award covered lost wages and compensation for humiliation and emotional distress. Jurors were deadlocked on the issue of punitive damages, setting the stage for a new trial on that issue next month.
