On Friday, April 3rd, the Philip W. Sugg Middle School Parent Action Group (PAG) in Lisbon Falls, sponsored a wonderful evening with dinner and a show that took place at Lisbon High School. The PAG invited Steve Wronker of Steve Wronker’s Funny Business Comedy Hypnosis as the night’s entertainment. The show lasted over an hour and a half and was full of laughs and good times were being had by all. According to Mr. Wronker, he has been hypnotizing people for over 22 years and performs mostly in New England but has performed as far away as Hawaii. He started working as a hypnotist during the last recession when he needed a bit more money to supplement his income for his work as a magician.

Mr. Wronker’s show has an age range of 13 years old and up for volunteers who can come up to be hypnotized. He has the age limits because younger children do not always understand what he is saying at times. Mr. Wronker has not had any formal training in hypnotizing people. In college he took clinical psychology and then he read up on clinical hypnosis which he continues to study then uses what he has learned to hypnotize people.

In a average year Mr. Wronker performs about 120 – 150 shows. Before he starts a show he tells all volunteers that after you have been hypnotized you will wake up unbelievably rested the next day, and you will feel like you love your family, friends much more until 3 p.m. on Saturday. And that anytime anyone called them, spoke to them, or even texted them, and said the words “You were terrific” their response would be “THANKS, I KNOW.”

“I woke up very rested the day after the show,” shares Meghan Craig, who was one of the people from the audience who was hypnotized on Friday night. “And, just like Mr. Wronker said, I did feel like I loved my family and friends more on Saturday,” commented Meghan.

Kathi Yergin, PAG President, and the event coordinator, shared she personally had a lot of fun telling a number of times what a “terrific job” she did and hearing Meghan respond, “THANKS, I KNOW.”

“I love coming into a town where everyone is so inviting,” says Mr. Wronker. To contact Mr. Wronker to plan a show or view pictures of the PWS PAG show go to www.swfb.net. For a nominal fee, copies of pictures may be ordered from the website. “Proceeds of from picture orders go toward the American Diabetes Foundation,” shares Mr. Wronker.

The Philip W. Sugg PAG would like to thank all of the adult and junior volunteers that assisted with the show. Without their support the night would not have been possible. Thanks to the support of the community sponsors, Lisbon Falls Family Health Center, Wal-Mart in Brunswick, Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union, Haggerty Realty, Lisbon House of Pizza, Two Rivers Family Dentist, Lisbon Fuel Company, Hannaford’s of Topsham, Downeast Energy, Piela Oil Company, Lisbon School Nutrition Director, Jim Damsgaard and Cindy Rogers. Thanks to all the people from Lisbon and surrounding communities who came to the show in support of Philip W. Sugg students and their projects.
