Tag day is to be held in these cities May 8 to aid the Lewiston and Auburn Children’s Home. The plan is to have one hundred chaperones and a thousand young ladies, stationed at the depots, hotels, street corners, everywhere in fact. People are advised to allow the first girl who approaches them to pin on a tag for if they don’t, they’ll be chased all day. In many cities, where this money-making scheme has been carried on with great success, some men would be tagged from head to foot.

Many Twin City teenagers are expected to compete in the Safe Driving Road-E-O to be held at 9 a.m. Saturday on Central Avenue in front of Lewiston High School.

Both boys and girls are eligible to participate in the event sponsored by the Lewiston Junior Chamber of Commerce. The contest is in two parts, a written test on safety regulations and rules of the road, and actual driving competition.

The results of the driving trial and the written quiz score determine the winner, who will get a $25 U.S. Savings Bond donated by Advance Auto Sales and Twin City Motor Co. The winner also has an opportunity to compete at the state and national level.

After a four-month delay, the Auburn Housing Authority has awarded a New Hampshire company a contract to renovate the former Lincoln Street School into a 10-unit family complex.

AHA Executive Director Harry W. Woodard Jr. said Friday that the D.J. Beane Co. of Guilford was the low bidder at $368,210.

Woodard expects the New Hampshire company to begin the renovation work almost immediately. The Lincoln School building should be ready to house 10 families in November.
