MEDFORD, Mass. – First-year second baseman Sam Epsteim went 3-for-3 with five RBIs, including a single in the bottom of the fifth that invoked the eight-run rule, to lift Wesleyan to a 12-4 victory over Bates in the NESCAC softball championship Friday.
The Bobcats (12-15) were paced by two hits and an RBI from senior right fielder Leah Citrin and a 1-for-2 effort with two runs and an RBI by first-year shortstop Kelly McManus.
The Cardinals (16-18) put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning when they sent 11 hitters to the plate. Sophomore designated hitter Anu Rimal, Molly O’Connell and Talia Bernstein all singled home a run and scored a run in the inning.
