FARMINGTON – A student at the University of Maine at Farmington was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault early Sunday morning after a young woman was cut by a knife.
Aidan Dunfey, 24, of Farmington faces a felony charge because a dangerous weapon was involved, Farmington officer Shane Cote said.
The young woman, visiting from a college in Massachusetts, was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital by NorthStar ambulance where she received stitches for a cut on her hand, Cote said.
She and Dunfey met at a party on Franklin Avenue and started arguing, he said. She left and went to her friend’s home on High Street, where Dunfey showed up later with a knife and cut her, he said.
Cote found him and arrested him.
Dunfey appeared in Franklin County Superior Court on Monday where bail was set at $1,000 cash for a court appearance Aug. 21. Bail conditions also include no use of alcohol and drugs or a dangerous weapon.
