Issue: Some residents complained about the painted center stripes on Lisbon Road.

The scoop: There’s $3,000 left in the striping account.

Up next: Work will begin on 4 miles of Lisbon for a quote of $2,112. There may be money left to do one more mile of road.

No duplicate tax bills

Issue: The town has been sending property tax bills to homeowners and mortgage companies, as well as responding to mortgage companies requests for information via fax or e-mail.

The scoop: In addition to the staff time, it costs the town about $300 in postage to mail the duplicate bills.

Up next: The town will stop mailing tax bills to mortgage companies but will still respond to requests for additional information.

Mark your calendar

Issue: An Open House at the Main Street fire station is planned from 9 a.m. into the afternoon June 6. It’s a chance to meet firefighters, check out equipment and maybe even spray a hose.

Issue: The Sabattus Fun Festival is set for 5 p.m. July 16 at the Town Office. Expect an evening of barbecue, fun and games.

Odds and ends

Issue: A new group met Wednesday to start updating the town’s Web site with volunteer help.

Issue: Selectmen are seeking a bid for lawn mowing around the cemeteries and town office. Mowing is done right now by Public Works employees.

Issue: Police Sgt. Gil Turcotte is retiring from the department at the end of May after seven years of local service. He’ll become a reserve officer.
