The members of the Imperial Scotch Concert Company which will appear in City Hall tonight under the auspices of Clan Campbell, No. 26, Order Scottish Clan, arrived here last evening from Berlin N. H., and during their stay in Lewiston will be the guest of A. L. Couper of Pine Street.The company includes J. M. Hamilton, the world’s greatest Scotch tenor, Miss Grant, a soprano of note, Fred Barclay who is called the prince of Scotland comics, and Miss McKay, a musician of unusual ability.

Mayor Morey of Lewiston and Mayor Merrill of Auburn have been invited to occupy seats on the stage.

50 years ago, 1959

The month of June has been designated by the Auburn Police Athletic League for its annual fund-raising campaign. The goal has been set at $5,000 for funds with which to purchase equipment for the large number of boys expected to register for the summer program, and to replace equipment either worn out or otherwise not available for this year’s program.

Sgt. Donald R. Delisle of the department and John Flannery are co-chairmen of the fund-raising drive.

Auburn officials are considering installation of a “public access” computer terminal to allow citizens to more easily obtain real estate information.Tax Assessor Patricia Brann believes the time savings afforded workers in her office by a terminal would be “unmeasurable.” The terminal would be placed in the hall of the City Building and would have strict security constraints with “lockout” protective mechanisms to insure no one changed or tampered with any data.

Mrs. Brann said a public terminal would eliminate staff time now spent on digging out real estate information to help citizens, lawyers or realtors.
