PARIS – An 18-year-old West Paris man was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday evening after a motorcycle accident on Ryerson Hill Road.

Zachary Severance was no longer listed as a patient at Central Maine Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Lt. Michael Dailey of the Paris Police Department, Severance lost control of his 1992 Honda VFR 750 motorcycle around 8:40 p.m. while driving toward Paris Hill Road. Dailey said Severance hit some bumps on the road near a curve, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole guy wire in a field.

Dailey said the guy wire was taken out of the ground and the collision flexed the pole enough to knock down the main service line and a service line to a house, causing a loss of power in the Ryerson Hill Road area.

Dailey said Severance was walking at the scene, but complaining of pain. He was taken to CMMC by LifeFlight after the chopper landed in the nearby field.

Dailey said the motorcycle was totaled in the accident. The Paris Fire Department and Central Maine Power Co. also responded to the scene.
