A Lewiston woman was killed and a Lewiston man and two young children were seriously injured Friday when their car collided head-on with another car on Route 2 in Randolph, N.H.
Rachel Metivier, 26, a passenger in the vehicle, was killed. Christopher Caron, 27, the driver, was seriously injured and was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H., state police said. Two children in the car, a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old, were also seriously injured. They were listed in fair condition Saturday, police said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The two vehicles — a 2007 Nissan Altima and Caron’s 2000 Ford Explorer — collided head-on around 5 p.m. Friday, according to New Hampshire State Police. The driver of the Nissan, Diane Silsby, 41, of Lunenburg, Vt., was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries. Silby’s passengers, her mother and 15-year-old daughter, were both killed. Her mother was Leona Dunn, 83, of Lancaster, N.H. Police did not name Silby’s daughter.
Alcohol, drugs and the weather to not appear to be factors in the accident, police said.
