NORWAY — A New Gloucester man was clinging to life Sunday night at Central Maine Medical Center following a Sunday evening accident on Route 118 in Norway.
Carroll Francis, 52, was listed in critical condition Sunday night at Central Maine Medical Center where he was transported by medical helicopter following the 6:20 p.m. crash.
Trooper Paul Casey of the Maine State Police said a crash reconstruction team worked to piece together the events that led up to the crash involving Francis’ motorcycle and a car.
The crash was initially reported to the Norway Police Department and the state police were called in at 6:35 p.m. to assist with the investigation. The crash happened on Route 118 right in front of the Little Red School House, just south of the Lake Store at Norway Lake.
Casey said that a 2002 Chrysler driven by Susan Palmer, 52, of Florida was headed south on Route 118. When Palmer attempted to make a left-hand turn into a driveway across the street from the school, she turned right into the path of the oncoming northbound motorcycle ridden by Francis. Palmer did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.
