Edna B. Brown
1922 – 2009

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Edna B. Brown passed away on July 4, after a brief illness.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1922 to James and Edna (Caldwell) Donohue. After the death of her mother at the age of two, she was raised by a very special woman, Helen Godwin, who raised her like her own daughter.

She was educated in New York schools and worked for the U.S. Army base and later for the New York Telephone Co. She was married to Melfred C. Brown on Oct. 4, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y., where together they raised five children.

After her husband’s retirement from the NYC Fire Department, they relocated to Maine, his original birth place and resided in New Gloucester, where she enjoyed being around her immediate and extended family. She loved to laugh and joke with everyone, but mostly loved being around her family.

Surviving are her children, Frank Brown and wife, Donna, Patricia Demers and husband, Richard, Patrick Brown and wife, Esther, Thomas Brown and wife, Barbara and John Brown and girlfriend, Laurie; as well as 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years; two brothers; and one grandchild, Jimmy Brown.
