AUBURN – Edward Little High School senior Brooke Gagne will compete in the figure skating competition at the State Games of America from July 30 to August 2 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Gagne is one of more than 10,000 athletes from 49 states and is the only figure skater from Maine. She qualified by earning a medal at the New Hampshire Skating Festival. She is the daughter of Harvey and Sue Gagne.

SCARBOROUGH – Four local athletes are among more than 100 Mainers to be honored Sunday as qualifiers for the National Senior Games in a variety of sports. Eighty-three of the qualifying athletes will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the National Senior Games, the largest multi-sport event in the world for athletes age 50 and over. Scheduled for August 1-15, the biennial event will feature medal competition in 18 sports.
Local members of the delegationare Stanley Hansen of Lewiston, Verna Sepe of Kingfield, George Walsh of Jay and Lennie Yamashiro of Farmington.
Sen. Susan Collins will speak at the Sunday reception, which begins at noon.
