LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will partner with Central Maine Gastroenterology to offer “The Good News: Update on the Prevention and Early Detection of Colon Cancer.”

The 90-minute workshop will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in Conference Room H at 12 High St. on the CMMC campus. Admission is free for all who wish to attend and light refreshments will be served. 

The workshop is part of the Dempsey Center’s Education Series and will be presented by Dr. Philip J. O’Connor of Central Maine Gastroenterology. O’Connor will speak of the importance of prevention and early detection of colon cancer. He will be available for questions at the conclusion of the presentation. 

O’Connor completed his gastroenterology residency and fellowship at Albany Medical College and has been a practicing, board-certified gastroenterologist in Lewiston-Auburn for more than 30 years.
