MECHANIC FALLS — The 120th annual camp meeting at the Advent Christian Camp on Route 121 opens Saturday for nine days with the theme “When God Visits His People.” The public is welcome to attend all events free of charge.

The Rev. Roger Brown of Calvary Bible Church in Meredith, N.H., will be the evangelist, speaking on the theme each evening at 7 and Sundays, July 12 and 19, at 10:30 a.m.

His son, Josh Brown, will serve as worship leader at the services.

The Rev. John Soucy, pastor of Christ Chapel in Raymond, is Bible teacher. His overview of the Bible is titled “God’s Word, Yours to Keep.” The Auburn native said the purpose of the study is to “connect the big dots” from Genesis to Revelations and help make reading the Word of God more interesting and more regular. The study will be held Monday through Friday, July 13-17, beginning at 9:45 a.m.

The camp meeting is sponsored by the Advent Christian Campmeeting Association of Mechanic Falls, which is made up of  Advent Christian churches in Mechanic Falls, Auburn, Oxford, Bridgton, Raymond, Windham and Portland.

Meals are served in the air-conditioned dining hall. Camp sites are
available for those wishing to stay on the grounds, which include an
olympic-size swimming pool, horseshoe court, sports field, volleyball
and basketball courts, children’s playground and other amentities for
fun and relaxation.

The association also operates three youth camps each summer. They are Teen Camp for ages 13 to 18 from July 12-19, Junior Camp for ages 9 to 12 from July 20-25, and Camp MACC for ages 13 to 18 from Aug. 10-15. A mini-camp for ages 7 and 8 is planned for Aug. 7 and 8. For information on registration, costs and schedules, call the camp at 345-9735.
