LEWISTON —  Paving the Court Street-Main Street corridor through the Twin Cities is scheduled to move into Lewiston on Sunday night.

Workers are scheduled to continue overlay paving on Main Street from Lisbon Street north to Riverside Street, starting at 8 p.m. and continuing to 6 a.m. Monday.

The paving work will continue Monday evening, into Tuesday morning, depending on the weather.

Crews from the Maine Department of Transportation paved Turner Street from Union Street bypass to Court Street in Auburn overnight on Monday and Wednesday and began paving Court Street on Thursday. They were scheduled to continue eastbound on Court Street on Friday and Saturday, continuing up Main Street in Lewiston.

Lewiston Project Engineer Al Richards said Sunday night’s paving work from Lisbon Street north is similar, but is being managed by the city of Lewiston. Crews are putting down a layer of smooth asphalt, called a shim coat, on top of the road.
