During the past few months, I have e-mailed Gov. John Baldacci and my state senator, John Nutting, asking them to tell me the biblical principle they used to justify signing and/or supporting the gay marriage bill.

Beginning in early May and continuing through June, I e-mailed both of these public servants nine times trying to get an answer to a very simple question.

It seems strange to me that when these two were running for re-election they did not hesitate to ask me for donations, to speak with my family, friends and neighbors on their behalf and to encourage us to go to the ballot booth and vote for them. Yet when one of their constituents asks for an answer to such a simple question they, or at least a member of their staff, cannot find the time to respond.
