Freeman L. Butler
1937 – 2009
RUMFORD — Freeman L. Butler, 71, died Monday, July 13, at the Rumford Hospital. He was a resident of Hanover and was formerly of Hampden, Mass.
He was born in Princeton, Aug. 29, 1937, a son of the late Otis and Lillian (Brown) Butler. He attended schools in Guilford, Conn. He worked at Sunday River Ski Resort as a facilities manager.
He was a member of Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE. He enjoyed working outdoors, taking care of plants and animals. He loved his family and was a warm and loving dad, grandpa and husband.
He was married in Fairfield, Conn., on May 15, 1959 to Barbara Fodor, who survives of Hanover. Other survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Carestia of Hampton Beach and Lisa Keefe and husband, Jay, of Milton, Mass.; a son, James and his wife, Karen, of Monson, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Boone, Jason Carestia, Ashley Sheehy and her husband, Kyle, Brittany Cremmen, Nicole Cremmen, Jake Cremmen, Michael Butler and Christopher Butler; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Skylar Boone.
The family would like to thank the oncology department of the Rumford Hospital and Dr. Erickson.
