Silver E. Bean
1936 – 2009
NORWAY — Silver E. Bean, 73, of South Paris died Tuesday, July 14, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Rumford, April 21, 1936, the son of William E. and Leona Durgin Bean. He attended Stephens High School in Rumford and DeVry Institute of Technology.
He faithfully served his country in the Army and later in the National Guard. He had worked as a woodsman, then at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., General Electric, Curtis Electric, McDonalds and in the engineering department at Stephens Memorial Hospital. After retirement, he mowed lawns on Paris Hill. He loved mowing lawns, gardening and being outdoors. He was a life-member of the Floyd-Harlow VFW Post 9787 in South Paris and the Stone-Smart American Legion in Norway. On Nov. 10, 1961, he married Joan Barrett.
He is survived by his wife of South Paris; a son, Dana of South Paris; a brother, Herman P. of South Paris; two sisters, Arlene Estes of South Paris and Geraldine Raasumaa of Rochester, N.H.; an uncle, Stanley Durgin of Paris; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Erlon, Liston, Roland and Howard; and two sisters, Charlotte Bean and Ernestine Sibley.
