BYRON – Search and rescue teams where continuing their search late Sunday night for an elderly man who went missing while fishing with his granddaughter Sunday afternoon.

A dispatcher with Maine Public Safety reported that the search started around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The search covered the area north of Byron in Letter D Township of Franklin County just off Route 17.

The 88-year-old’s granddaughter reported him missing. According to the dispatcher, the man was last seen heading downstream to cross Bemis Stream where the two had been fishing. No other information was available Sunday night.
