Donald C. Corson

1941 – 2009

FARMINGTON – Donald C. Corson, 68, of Farmington died Friday, July 17, at his home.

He was born in Farmington April 7, 1941, the son of Cleon A. and Velma A. (Smith) Corson. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1960. Donald married Linda Libby on June 30, 1962, in Farmington. He worked all over New England as a union construction laborer, much of which was in Jay building the paper mill. Donald loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, NASCAR, collecting antiques (especially bottles), but his favorite collection was of minerals and fossils. He was one of the founding members of the Sandy River Mineral Club. In Auburn, N.Y., he was president of the Cayuaga Mineral Club and was the Youth Leader of the Syracuse Gem and Mineral Society. He even built the home he and his family shared from wood on their own property, the rocks in the handmade stone walls were collected from all over the state.

Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda; two daughters, Donna Hinkley and husband, Eric, of Farmington, Penny Brackett of Farmington; his son, Peter Corson and wife, Heather, of Farmington; seven grandchildren Letitia, Virginia, Brittany, Victoria, Aricka, James and Agnes; a great-grandson, Jakob; his sister, Mildred MacDonald of Pittston; his brother, Doane Corson of Casco; many nieces and nephews; and his aunt, Marilyn Powers.

He was predeceased by his parents.
