Michael F. Bannister

1952-2009

AUBURN – Michael F. Bannister, 56, of Sabattus, died Saturday afternoon at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with his loving family at his side after a very courageous battle with cancer.

Michael was born in Lewiston on Dec. 7, 1952, the son to Adrien and Juliette Landry Bannister. He was educated in Lewiston Schools having graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1971. On Nov. 2, 1990, he married the former Carrie Holt and together they made their home in Sabattus. Michael was employed at many local restaurants, most recently at Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shop where he managed the Brunswick restaurant.

Michael was an avid sports enthusiast, having loved the New York Yankees. His greatest pleasure in life however was the time he spent with his wife and children at their activities and sporting events. He was especially proud to attend his daughter, Kayla’s High School graduation in June, and being part of Jacob’s All-Star Baseball Tournament this year.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Bannister of Sabattus; his daughter, Kayla Bannister of Sabattus; and his son, Jacob Bannister of Sabattus; and his mother, Juliette Bannister of Auburn. He also leaves two sisters, Joline Bannister of Jay and Patricia Lewis and her husband, Rick, of Sabattus; three brothers, Donald Bannister and his wife, Susan, of Cape Coral Fla., James Bannister and his wife, Rachel Bannister, of Turner and Steve Bannister and his wife, Bonnie, of Lewiston. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carole Holt, of Jay and sister-in-law, Leslie Violette and her husband, Ed, of Benton; and brother-in-law, Shawn Holt and his wife, Abrey, of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Adrien Bannister; and father-in-law, Daniel Holt.

The family would like to send a special heart-felt thanks to Dr. Roger Austin and the staff of the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the loving care that was taken of Michael.
