WINONA E. ATKINS
1965 – 2009
LEWISTON – Winona E. Atkins died unexpectedly at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center on July 17, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Lewiston on March 27, 1965, she was the daughter of Robert and Winona Madison Landry. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of ’83. She brought the love of her life, her son Tim, into the world on Sept. 27, 1985. She found her soulmate and husband, Jim, in 1990, and shared a life of love with him becoming his wife on Sept. 6, 2006. Together they raised a wonderful young man who proudly serves his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. With their faithful dog Rose, they created a life tied to the outdoors. She was happiest relaxing at their camp in Andover. She enjoyed canoeing the Allagash, hunting, whitewater rafting, traveling the country, gardening and yard sales. She especially loved her flowers and her dishes, which she collected over many years. After many years in retail management, Winona found her true calling, helping people to live healthy lives and find comfort through chiropractic care at Hoyt Chiropractic Care of Winthrop. Winona found her second home with the wonderful ladies at Continuum Healthcare where she worked the last few years and was loved by them as much as she loved all of them. The family thanks the entire Continuum employee’s for watching over their own little angel.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Atkins; her son, Tim Pinette; her mother, Winona Landry; her sisters, Sandy Carder and husband, Jamie, Janet Desmarais and husband, Bill; niece and godchild, Sara Carder; niece, Kristy-Mae and nephew Brent Lacombe. Other survivors include her mother and father-in-law, Sarah and Larry Jordan; sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Catherine Gregoire and nephew Zak Muzyka; sister and brother-in-law, Julie Atkins and John Lorenc and nephew Jasper; and many other friends and relatives. All will sadly miss her.

She was predeceased by her father, Robert G. Landry, in 1977; and her faithful dog, Rose, in 2007.
