LISBON — A wandering turkey was blamed for a single-car crash on Gould Road late Monday afternoon.

Lois Lane, 47, of Lisbon Falls was driving east when a turkey ran across the road in front of her car, investigating officer Richard St. Amant said. She swerved to the right to avoid the bird, which she did, went off the right shoulder and struck a large pine tree head-on, St. Amant said.

Lane complained of pain and was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. St. Amant estimated damage to the front of her 2005 Pontiac Bonneville at $3,500 in the 4:13 p.m. crash.
