Fernand ‘Pete’ V. Lessard
1932 – 200

LEWISTON — Fernand “Pete” V. Lessard, 77, of 516 Webster St., and a longtime resident of 89 Shawmut St., Lewiston, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston, June 1, 1932, the son of Oscar and Eva Ouellette Lessard. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army.

On July 4, 1952, he married the former Jeanne Landry. He was employed for many years as a handsewer in the local shoe industry, retiring in 1994. Upon his retirement, he worked for St. Patrick’s church, and Mount Hope Cemetery.

A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, he also belonged to the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and loved maintaining the home on Shawmut street he shared with his loving wife of 57 years. He loved attending family gatherings, specifically watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and grow together.

Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; two sons, Marc and wife, Debra Ann, of Mechanic Falls and Peter and wife, Tina Lessard, of Lewiston; a daughter, Claire and husband, Ron Gagnon, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Eric and wife, Tina Lessard, Randy and wife, Shannon Lessard, Sarah and Allison Gagnon, and Cody, Rebecca-Marie, and Lauren Lessard; and three great-grandchildren, Jack and Trent Lessard, and Ciana Frigoli.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerard “Bill” Lessard.
