LEWISTON — The Elliot Avenue Little League  9-10 All-Stars advanced to the state tournament in Ellsworth by going undefeated in the District 5 tournament.

Elliot defeated South Lewiston in their first-round game. Gage Cote, Luc Dostie and Owen McCarthy led the way with 3 hits each. Kyle Morin, Jeromey Rancourt and Isaac Escobar chipped in with two hits. Dostie and K.J. Edwards combined for the mound win. In their second game, Elliot knocked off Augusta 17-5. Cote, Dostie and Rancourt led the offense with 3 hits apiece. Jason Gonzalez and Dalton Wing added two. Kyle Morin was the winning pitcher. In a battle of the unbeatens, Elliot took on Auburn Suburban. Gage Cote pitched five strong innings to guide Elliot to a 9-2 victory. Cote and Dostie each had two hits including a triple. Gavin Bates lead Auburn with two his, including a double.

The same two teams played for the championship. ASLL jumped out the quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first behind a double by C.J. Jipson. Elliot battled back with four of their own, led by a two-run double by Dalton Wing. Elliot scored two more in the second behind run scoring hits by Luc Dostie and Wing. Elliot got one more in the third on a hit by Dostie to up the score to 7-5. Auburn scored 3 times it the top of the fourth to take an 8-7 lead. Cole Butler and Noah Yarnevich supplied the offense. Elliot took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Wing, Owen McCarthy and Nicholas Poland led the charge. Dostie continued his strong pitching by shutting down Auburn in the fifth inning. Wing came on to pitch a scoreless sixth with strong defense behind him.

The state tournament in Ellsworth starts Aug. 1.
