BIDDEFORD — Cody Goddard tossed an eight-yard TD pass to EL teammate Sean Daigle on 4th and goal and Scott Siviski kicked the extra point with 36 seconds left as the East upended the West 17-16 in the Lobster Bowl at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford on Saturday. The EL connection capped a 12-play, 59-yard drive for the East, which had fallen behind 16-10 with seven minutes to play.

Nate Doehler earned MVP honors for the West. Doehler punched in a 4-yard score with 6:24 to play
in the fourth quarter to put the West on top 16-10. Doehler, of Bonny
Eagle, has scored all 16 of the West’s points.

The East’s Chase Huckstein of John Bapst earned MVP honors for his side.

On the first play from scrimmage for the West, Doehler scampered for more than 70 yards and gave the West a 6-0 advantage, with the extra point adding one more to make it 7-0.

The rest of the half went by without incident, or scoring, until Doehler struck again late in the second quarter, this time with his foot. The Bonny Eagle grad booted a 32-yard field goal late in the first half to give the West a 10-0 edge after two stanzas.

The East drew a bit closer midway through the third, with Goddard completing a 27-yard pass to Skowhegan’s Billy Clark. With the extra point, the West still led, but just 10-7 with 7:18 to play in the third quarter.

Siviski, of Winslow, booted a 28-yard field goal with 56 seconds remaining in the third quarter to even the score at 10-10.
